WHEREAS, the guiding light of the Community Alliance of Spring Garden and East Deutschtown is the organization's president, Ruth Ann Dailey; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Daily has taken a community group and pulled it together into a cohesive, successful organization working toward the betterment of the community; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dailey works tirelessly keeping the Gateways to Deutschtown beautiful, by the 16th Street Bridge, Tripoli Street and the Madison Street Meeting house; and
WHEREAS, working together with other organization members, Ms. Dailey finally received a 501(c)(3) status allowing the organization to look for grants and other funding for community improvements; and
WHEREAS, since becoming president, Ms. Dailey led the Alliance in saving the Emanuel Lutheran Church from the wrecking ball, purchasing it for the Alliance, creating a presence in East Deutschtown and renting the building to the Steel City Improve Group and City View Church led by Pastors Wayne and LeAnn Younger; and
WHEREAS, one of Ms. Dailey's passions is to “green-up” more of the community and she involves many in the project; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dailey is a classically trained pianist, a graduate of the University of Maryland in performance and studied piano for a year in Leone, France; and
WHEREAS, most people in Pittsburgh know Ms. Dailey as a weekly columnist and bi-weekly crossword puzzle writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and a contributor for PCNC's “Night Talk”; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dailey is always backed by her loving family, husband Andrew Reamer, the lead percussionist for the Pittsburgh Symphony, and her three children, Alex, Aaron and Emma;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize that Ruth Ann Dailey has made more than a mark on her community, being the driving force who revitalized the Community Alliance of Spring Garden and East Deutschtown, bringing those passionate about the neighborhoo...
