Title

Resolution providing for the establishment of a Lease Agreement(s) and/or Sub-lease Agreement(s) with The Pittsburgh Children's Museum for a City facility known as the Buhl Planetarium Building and associated property located at Allegheny Square on Federal Street for an annual rental fee of One Dollar ($1.00) per year for a twenty-nine (29) year period.

 

Body

WHEREAS, since the start of the 2002 agreement with the Children’s Museum for the use of the Buhl Planetarium the agreement has resulted in the revitalization of the area as well as an expansion of programming by the Children’s museum; and

 

WHEREAS, the City will be signing a similar agreement for use of the neighboring property, a portion of the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny; and

 

WHEREAS, for convenience purposes both the City and the Children’s Museum wish to have the same start date, term, and end date for both properties and as a result wish to restart the start date of the lease for the Buhl Planetarium.

 

 

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Section 1.                     The Mayor and the Director of the Department of General Services on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a Lease Agreement(s) and/or Sub-lease Agreement(s) with The Pittsburgh Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, in a form approved by the City Solicitor, for a leasing of a City facility known as the Buhl Planetarium Building and associated property located in the 22nd Ward of the City of Pittsburgh at Allegheny Square on Federal Street, with the right to use said facility as an integral part of the expansion project of the existing Children's Museum site for an annual rental fee of One ($1.00) Dollar per year for a twenty-nine (29) year period.  Said Lease Agreement(s) and/or Sub-lease Agreement(s) shall be in a form approved by the City Solicitor and shall contain such terms and conditions for the property of the City as said Solicitor may require.
