Resolution providing for the Mayor and the Director of the Department of Finance and/or the Director of the Department of Public Works to enter into a lease, leases, sublease and/or subleases for approximately 8,000 square feet, from the lessor, the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, for the purpose of providing office space for employees of the Department of Planning and the Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections, located within the City of Pittsburgh's First Ward at 100 Ross Street, 15218, Lot number 2-J-00244, effective on or about September 1, 2022 for a one (1) year period with an option to extend, and providing for the payment thereof.

WHEREAS, City employees of the Department of Planning and the Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections, who are expected to move into new space at 412 Boulevard of the Allies being built for them but not yet ready, currently occupy offices at 200 Ross Street, where the heating system requires extensive repairs and/or replacement; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh invited the City to sublease space that the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh has vacated in 100 Ross Street, Second Floor, which space has a functional heating system, the City now wishes formally to enter into an Agreement or Agreements to permit the City to enter into a sublease for this space.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Finance and/or the Director of the Department of Public Works are hereby authorized to enter into a lease, leases, sublease and/or subleases for approximately 8,000 square feet, from the lessor, the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, for the purpose of providing office space for employees of the Department of Planning and the Department of Permits, Licenses, and Inspections, located within the City of Pittsburgh's First Ward at 100 Ross Street, 15218, Lot number 2-J-00244, effective on or about September 1, 2022 for a one (1) year period with an option to extend, and providing for the payment thereof at a cost not to exceed One Hundred and Forty Four Thousand Dollars ($144,000) subject to and contingent upon the annual appropriation by City Council, changeable to and payable from JDE accounts: 11101.450000.54.54501.2022, $60,000.00 and 11101.450000.54.54201.2023, $84,000.00.
That lease and/or sublease(s) will be in a form approved by the City Solicitor and will contain such terms and conditions for the protection of the City as the Solicitor may require.
