Item #1
| 1 | | Item # | The Council, being elected by district, must every 10 years, apportion the districts so that each contains approximately the same number of persons pursuant to the United States Census. The criterion of equal size of elected representatives’ districts is generally understood to be a logical consequence of the Constitutional provision of one person, one vote, a principal derived from the equal protection clause of the Constitution of the United States.
The committee is strictly advisory in nature and that it is the Council’s legal responsibility to set the political boundaries by way of resolution.
Please refer to the 2020 Census Redistricting Data sheet that has been forwarded to you by the Council. We have also forwarded a link to the Census information, and the 2021 RAC Final Report for your reference.
At this time, we will vote to elect a Chairperson to conduct the Advisory Committee meetings. | Read, Received and Filed | |
