| 1 | | Proclamation | WHEREAS, on Monday, December 17, 2007 the City of Pittsburgh wishes to honor Gino Binkert on receiving Scholarships awards of $36,000 to further his education at Slippery Rock University; and
WHEREAS, Gino won a statewide competition held in Harrisburg, PA sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and his life story captured the hearts of the judges. Gino is the second youth of Sarah Heinz House member to achieve this honor in it's 106 year history, receiving $9,000 in Scholarship money; and
WHEREAS, Gino represented the entire state, competing against winners from Maryland, New England, New Jersey and West Virginia for the Regional Competition, and he went on to compete in DC for the national honor in September; and
WHEREAS, Gino Binkert an 18 year old graduate of Perry Traditional Academy, had a 3.6 average and took AP courses in Math and English. He was a peer helper at school; received special training to council students, and also served as Executive Assistant for his school guidance counselor. He was also a member of the soccer team; and
