Title

Ordinance amending the Pittsburgh Code, Title Two, Fiscal; Article IX, Property Taxes; Chapter 263, Real Property Tax and Exemption; Adding Section 263.03, Special Library Tax Levy and Rate on Lands and Buildings, fixing the rate of taxation effective as of January 1, 2012.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1.       The Pittsburgh Code, Title Two, Fiscal; Article IX, Property Taxes; Chapter 263, Real Property Tax and Exemption; Section 263.03 Special Library Tax Levy and Rate on Lands and Buildings:

263.03       SPECIAL LIBRARY TAX LEVY AND RATE ON LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

Effective January 1, 2012, based on the will of the majority of those voting in the General Election on November 8, 2011, for the purpose of providing revenue for the maintenance and operation of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the following taxes shall be and the same are hereby levied and assessed upon all real property taxable for the state, county and city purposes within the limits of the city, viz:  .25 mills upon each dollar or $0.25 upon each $1,000 of the assessed valuation of land, and .25 mills upon each dollar or $0.25 upon each $1,000 of the assessed valuation of all buildings.  All tax revenue collected under this Section shall be allocated exclusively for the maintenance and operation of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and shall be under the exclusive control of the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.  

Section 2.  

This ordinance shall become effective January 1, 2012.
