Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Pittsburgh City Council celebrates Mrs. Amman's 100th Birthday by declaring November 21, 2011 to be Madeline Suzanne Amman Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Madeline Suzanne Amman was born on November 21, 1911 in the scenic lakeside town of Neuchatel, Switzerland, which overlooks the Swiss Alps; and
 
WHEREAS, when Madeline was 9, her mother, grandparents, aunts and uncles immigrated to the United States, seeking a better life; and
 
WHEREAS, her family traveled from Ellis Island to Pittsburgh and settled in our South neighborhoods of Carrick and Beechview; and
 
WHEREAS, Madeline earned her education at the St. Norbert's School in Overbrook; and
 
WHEREAS, Madeline worked Downtown, where she met the love of her life, Charlie, who coincidentally came from a nearby Swiss town; and
 
WHEREAS, Madeline and Charlie married on November 2, 1933, and they made their home in Overbrook, where they raised two daughters, Jackie and Audrey; and  
 
WHEREAS, her family has now grown to include seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, with another great grandson due to arrive in February; and
 
WHEREAS, Madeline will celebrate her 100th birthday on November 21, 2011; and
 
WHEREAS, Madeline has been blessed with good health, and continues to live independently in Overbrook, where she enjoys reading and doing crossword puzzles;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Pittsburgh City Council celebrates Mrs. Amman's 100th Birthday by declaring November 21, 2011 to be Madeline Suzanne Amman Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
