Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Federation of War Veterans Societies, Incorporated for their continued dedication and hard work in making each year's Veteran's Day parade a success; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 11, 2011, to be “FEDERATION OF WAR VETERANS' SOCIETIES, INCORPORATED DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, fifteen percent of Western Pennsylvanians - including 33,000 residents of Pittsburgh - are veterans, while many more continue to serve on active duty; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Federation of War Veterans' Societies, Incorporated was formed in 1919 to provide a yearly Veterans Day parade in downtown Pittsburgh, in conjunction with Allegheny County and the city of Pittsburgh, to honor those who have served and made great sacrifices for our country; and,
 
WHERAS, with over 40 members in the federation, the Federation of War Veterans' Societies, Incorporated will host their 92nd Veterans Day parade with thousands of spectators expected to line the parade route, starting at the Mellon Arena and ending at Commonwealth Place, to honor our heroes and show appreciation; and,
 
WHEREAS, this year's annual parade will be held on November 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with units of bands, Veteran color guards and Veteran marching groups.
