Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mr. Val Pawlos for the community service he provides to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh and to the members of the PNA and most of all for his loyalty to the Polish community and commitment to its heritage; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 25, 2011, to be “Val Pawlos Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Mr. Val Pawlos was born and raised in Westwood, graduated from Bishop Canevin High School and currently resides in Carrick; he was taught good ethics and values at a young age by his parents and became the head of the family mentoring his 5 other brothers after his parents passed away; and,
WHEREAS, he has coached for the Crafton Heights Baseball/Softball league and the South Side Sabers Youth Football and has been involved extensively in the community where he also serves as a Democratic Committee Member; and,
WHEREAS, Val Pawlos is the current  President of Polish National Alliance (PNA) Lodge 1052 in the West End and has been for over 25 years, a lodge that has been built on family participation and has been a member of the lodge for over 35 years ; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Pawlos was appointed the National Sports Director by the Board of Directors in November, 2008 and has been very active with the National Bowling , Golf and Softball Tournaments as well as the District VIII tournaments and as Director implemented different sports activities and helping the youth of the PNA become strong leaders for the future; and,
WHEREAS, January 1, 2012, Mr. Pawlos will become the new National Director of the PNA, the largest of all fraternal insurance benefit societies created by Americans of Polish origins, having members in every state of the Union and 916 local lodge groups that help it carry out its mission; and,
