Title: Now, therefore be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh wishes to honor the Dialogue and Resolution Center for creating a unique celebration of Conflict Resolution Day in Southwestern Pennsylvania which brings attention to international Conflict Resolution Day in our community while increasing capacity for collaboration, conflict resolution, and peace; and, Be it further resolved, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, October 20, 2011, Conflict Resolution Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

Whereas, The Dialogue and Resolution Center (DRC) of The Center for Victims of Violence and Crime is a proactive violence prevention initiative dedicated to resolving conflicts peacefully; and,
Whereas, The DRC is the "front line" resource for resolving community conflicts such as: conflicts between neighbors, landlords and tenants, businesses and consumers, youth and adults, employers and employees; and,
 
Whereas, The DRC also facilitates dialogues in large groups or public meetings, assists with culture clashes that can occur in schools, workplaces and neighborhoods, and assists with the integration of immigrant and refugee populations into already established communities; and,
 
Whereas  the DRC will offer its annual Talk It Together training event on October 18, 2011, at the University Club at the University of Pittsburgh as a celebration of International Conflict Resolution Day.
