• Title: WHEREAS The Academy was chosen from 4000 entrants to be highlighted by The Visionairies, a public broadcasting series viewed internationally; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, October 8, through Monday, October 10, 2011, to be “Extended Columbus Days” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, each year - this is the 26^th year - Pittsburgh Columbus Day Parade, Inc., presents a festive celebration of Christopher Columbus and all others of Italian origin; and

WHEREAS, the Chairman for 14 years of Pittsburgh Columbus Day Parade, Inc., Guy Costa, has said, "It's an opportunity for the Italian-American organizations in Western Pennsylvania to celebrate their proud traditions and heritage"; and

WHEREAS, this year the parade will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Liberty Avenue and Baum Boulevard, and traveling through Bloomfield;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, October 8, through Monday, October 10, 2011, to be "Extended Columbus Days" in the City of Pittsburgh.
