WHEREAS, after seven years of service, Kathi Boyle, is retiring as interim executive director of the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force; and
WHEREAS, Kathi Boyle has worked in social services and public health since 1978, building programs to support sexual health and addiction recovery; and
WHEREAS, in 2004, Kathi Boyle joined the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, an organization that services 500 clients regularly and administers HIV/AIDS tests to more than 1,500 a year; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure, Kathi Boyle has worked to erase the debt of the organization, has moved the location of the office to East Liberty, and has initiated innovative collaborations with other local HIV/AIDS agencies like Persad, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center HIV/AIDS Program, and Allegheny General Hospital's Positive Health Clinic in assessing how to best address the epidemic and how to support the community's needs; and
WHEREAS, Kathi Boyle's passion for raising awareness about the prevention and treatment of AIDS helped to destigmatize the virus and establish the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force as a key player in Allegheny County's public health landscape; and
WHEREAS, through her work at the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, Kathi Boyle has fostered a community that provides a sense of hope for those with AIDS in Allegheny County.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Kathi Boyle for being a dedicated and exceptional leader of social services in the Pittsburgh region; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 13, 2011 to be "Kathi Boyle Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
