WHEREAS, The Women's Division, Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention has a continuing commitment to work tirelessly to improve the spiritual position and condition of women and children; and
WHEREAS, the focus is directed toward missionary, educational, evangelistic and human rights endeavors especially for women and children enmeshed in poverty; and
WHEREAS, the award recipients for 2011 are as follows:
Sister Brenda Atkins Lockley, Mt. Zion Baptist Church
Sister Christine Bennett, St. John The Evangelist Baptist Church
Dr. Joan B. Clark, Baptist Temple Church
Sister Kimberly J. Overton, Second Baptist Church
Sister Betty J. Lyons, Second Baptist Church
Deacon Stella Massey, Emmanuel Baptist Church
Sister Agnes Taulton, Morningstar Baptist Church
Sister Roberta Moore, Ebenezer Baptist Church (In Memory)
WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Western Region Women's Ministry achieved this noteworthy endeavor through individual commitment, collaboration and discipline; and
WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Western Region Women's Ministry is sponsoring the "Women of Distinction" social event on August 27th, 2011.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize and commend the Pennsylvania Western Region Women's Ministry for evangelizing and encouraging the importance of church throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania; and
BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby declare Saturday, August 27, 2011, "Women of Distinction Day", in the City of Pittsburgh.
