Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Family House for almost 30 years of compassionate service to families in their time of greatest need; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 10, 2011 “Family House Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Family House, which opened its doors in 1983, has been providing welcoming, affordable accommodations for patients and their families from around the world for almost 30 years; and
 
WHEREAS, Family House strives to be a "home away from home," offering comfort, company, and peace of mind to the families and loved ones of patients undergoing treatment for serious illnesses at the City's many hospitals and specialized care facilities; and
 
WHEREAS, Family House has grown to four homes - McKee Place, Neville, Shadyside, and University Place - due to rising demand for the unique service they provide and the growth of Pittsburgh as a hub for advanced medical treatments; and
 
WHEREAS, the 28th Annual Family House Polo Match will be held on Saturday, September 10 at Hartwood Acres from 11:00am to 5:00pm to help raise money to support the growth of the organization and the invaluable service they provide to families in need; and
 
WHEREAS, the Family House Polo Match offers activities for the entire family, with a vintage car show, a boutique shopping village, children's games and activities, fantastic food and drinks, awards, and of course, polo.
