Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Nannie Moon Currington for her 95th birthday and commends her contributions to the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Nannie Moone Currington, a Pittsburgh native, graduate of Pittsburgh Public Schools and former employee of Pittsburgh Public Schools, celebrated her 95th birthday on July 23,2011; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Currington attended Rose Street Elementary School and Fifth Ave High School, received higher education degrees from Cheyney University and Bucknell University, is a life member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and was Chapter President of Alpha Omega in 1963; and,
 
WHEREAS, her close connection and dedication to the City of Pittsburgh has been exemplified by her good work for the Department of Public Assistance and Pittsburgh Public Schools, the latter of which had the good fortune of employing her in the roles of teacher, counselor, and vice-principal at Fifth Avenue High School and Greenway Middle School; and,
 
WHEREAS, as a member of Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church for over 90 years, Mrs. Currington has contributed greatly to the community, serving as an Elder, a Clerk of Sessions, founding the Youth and Chelsea Choirs, working on various committees for Pittsburgh Presbytery, and displaying a selfless nature as she traveled to Korea as part of a missionary group; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Currington, together with her sister Dorothy Moone Beavers, was honored by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh as a productive senior citizen, a worthy recognition highlighting her resilience and continued love for her city of birth;
