Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, congratulate and commend the these six players for doing something no other Pittsburgh team has ever done, all reaching the semi finals in the same year and for their dedication and persistence. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares July 12, 2011 to be National Marbles Champions Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Allegheny county Marbles Program offers young people the opportunity to participate in games at County parks and runs the Allegheny County Championship, which offers a chance for mibsters to qualify for the National Marbles Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh was represented at the 2011 National Marbles Tournament by:
Bailey Narr - Girls National Marbles Champion - 11 years old in just her third tournament - held first place throughout the entire tournament
Brandon Matchett - Boys National Marbles Champion - 12 years old in just his third tournament - also held first place throughout the entire tournament
Jordan Narr - Boys National Marbles Runner-up - 13 years old in just his second tournament
Semi-Finalists
Ben Eddings - 12 years old
Emily Cavacini - 8 years old
Brooke Narr - 12 years old; and
WHEREAS, the players were coached by Dan S. LaGamba, Dan C. LaGamba and Ed Ricci, in the 88th Annual National Marbles Tournament which was held on the beach in Wildwood, New Jersey, where they competed against 50 boys and girls from all over the nation during this 3 day event; and
WHEREAS, the players began practicing in February at a local gym where a parent donated his time to build a ring for the kids; and
WHEREAS, early in the season, the players practice twice a week for three hours and in the two weeks prior to the local tournament and through the Nationals, they practice every day for three hours.
