WHEREAS, every year, the Rashid family chooses a different U.S. city in which to hold their family reunion; and   

WHEREAS, the first Rashids arrived in America by ship in 1890 and settled in Bloomington, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, there are now over 1,300 Rashid families in 38 states and 10 countries; and

WHEREAS, the Rashid Club of America has more than 2,000 members; and

WHEREAS, this year, the Pittsburgh-area Rashids are hosting the 83^rd Annual Rashid Family Reunion in Pittsburgh, July 1-3, 2011; and

WHEREAS, the Rashid Reunion frequently attracts 250-500 Rashid family members from all over the United States, and occasionally from outside of the USA;
