Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and recognize the Friends of Grandview Park for their successful efforts in advocating Emerald View Park and Grandview Park as great places to experience Pittsburgh and enjoy the day; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, June 21, 2011, to be “Friends of Grandview Park Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Grandview Park located at 499 Bailey Avenue in the Mount Washington/Allentown neighborhood of Pittsburgh is  Over 100 years old, and is part of Pittsburgh's fifth regional park, Emerald View Park, a 280 acre  park encircling Mount Washington; and,
WHEREAS, the Friends of Grandview Park is a small group of people  passionate about Grandview Park and its beautiful skyline of Pittsburgh, the overlook and great walking trails; and,
WHEREAS, The Friends of Grandview Park wanted Grandview Park to be a destination for neighbors and tourists alike to be able to enjoy the view as well as the park, which celebrated its 100th Birthday in 2009; and,  
WHEREAS, The Friends our hosting their annual Commmunity Day on Saturday, June 25th from Noon to 4:00 PM which will be a celebration of the Mt. Washington, Duquesne Heights and Allentown communities and will include arts and craft vendors, local businesses, food, live music provided by the group "The Neighbors", children's activities including a puppet show and moonbounce, a classic car show and more; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to community day, the Friends of Grandview Park host other events such as the Farm Dinner to be held on August 26 and the Grandview Park Bark to be held on October 1 to name a few; and,
