Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby fondly remembers John Cigna, and expresses sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all of Pittsburgh, for we have lost a great Pittsburgher.

Whereas, C. John Cigna was born on December 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, attended the Cambridge School of Broadcasting and Brooklyn College, and took a circuitous route through West Virginia, Ohio, and Indiana before moving to Pittsburgh to become sports anchor and morning news director at WJAS; and
 
Whereas, from March 1973 through September 2001, John Cigna was a mainstay of KDKA Radio's lineup, beginning with a talk show during the popular evening hours from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, and moving to the morning hours from 6:00 to 9:00 in 1983; and
 
Whereas, "Cigna and the K-Team" fairly well dominated Pittsburgh morning drive time from 1983 to 2001, with news, traffic reports, weather, and special interviews and events, and people "feeding the K-Team," and Mr. Cigna performing feats of derring-do; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Cigna for years hosted a free spaghetti breakfast in Market Square, bringing together the cross-section of Pittsburghers who were his loyal listeners; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Cigna was an avid promoter of the Little Sisters of the Poor, and also served as honorary chairman of the March of Dimes Ride America motorcycle event for several years;
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Cigna was very proud of his sons John, Tony, Mike, and Chris, and his six grandchildren, and also enjoyed spending time at Cigna's Restaurant & Lounge; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Cigna, on May 20, 2011, mounted his Harley, declared it all a "piece of cake," and rode off to join his dearly beloved wife Pat at the big spaghetti breakfast in the sky;
