WHEREAS, the South Point Breeze Organization (SPBO) is hosting its annual Summer Breeze event on Saturday, June 18th from12 noon to 9:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, this year's event, chaired by Ellen Waite and co-chaired by Justin Brown and Craig Keto, will consist of local art, music, dance, and food. A free historic trolley tour of North and South Point Breeze - narrated by Point Breeze historian Ronnie Fuchs and journalist Paul “Duke” Kennedy - will highlight the rich culture of the neighborhoods, including stories of notable residents who have made Point Breeze their home over the last century; and
WHEREAS, this year's event has new energy and excitement due to the volunteer efforts of the Public Allies Service Group, under the purview of AmeriCorps, whose mission is to advance new leadership to strengthen communities, non profits and civic participation; and
WHEREAS, the Point Breeze Public Allies Service Team is comprised of civic minded and talented young people who engaged in an extensive project that included interviewing community and political leaders, business owners and residents; conducting a community survey and engaging in a consensus project with the goal to combine the North and South portions of the community into one event, ultimately setting in motion a sustainable blueprint for future progress; and
WHEREAS, this year's Summer Breeze includes staged areas at the Reynolds Street business corridor between Hastings and Gettysburg Streets, scattered venues along the hop-on hop-off trolley route, and a core site in the Construction Junction parking lot at Meade and Lexington Streets, where a live band will close the day's events from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the valuable work of the Public Allies Service Group throughout the Pittsburgh region and in the Point Breeze community and extends best wishes for an exciting and successful event; and
