Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Reverend Joseph E. Swierczynski for his time and dedication to not only those of Polish heritage, but for all the residents of the City of Pittsburgh who are enlightened by his teachings and processions; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 31, 2011 to be "Reverend Joseph E. Swierczynski Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Reverend Joseph E. Swierczynski, a native of Sharpsburg, PA, graduated college with a BA Degree in Philosophy and completed his Masters of Divinity Degree in Theology, which was his first step towards his pastoral profession; and,   
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Joseph E. Swierczynski was given seven different assignments throughout Pennsylvania before he became the Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Polish Hill in 1995; and,     
 
WHEREAS, with his immense leadership, Reverend Joseph E. Swierczynski guides followers to a greater love of God and Mary His Mother, especially through the Liturgical ethnic customs and traditions within the parish; and,
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Joseph E. Swierczynski works to create awareness of how beautiful and unique the Polish culture and heritage is, instill desire for people to be proud of their heritage, and aides in keeping Polish ethnic customs and traditions alive, especially in his Christmas and Easter Displays; and,
 
WHEREAS, the achievements of Reverend Joseph E. Swierczynski and dedication to the Polish culture, history, and traditions have not gone unrecognized as he has been honored by the Kosciuszko Foundation Pittsburgh Chapter for the Outstanding Polonian Award in 2011; and,
