Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, commend Susan Waldo for her many contributions to the community in the short time she has been at the Knoxville branch of the Carnegie Library of the City of Pittsburgh. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares Tuesday, May 31, 2011 to be Susan Waldo Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Elder-Ado's 9th Annual Community Service Recipient is Susan Waldo; and
 
WHEREAS, although Susan Waldo grew up in Emmsworth, she has spent most of her adult life in the Pittsburgh communities of Squirrel Hill, Bloomfield and South Side; and
 
WHEREAS, Susan Waldo has worked for the Carnegie Library System for 7 years, with the majority of that time at the East Liberty branch, she has served as the manager of the Knoxville Library for the last 2 years; and
 
WHEREAS, during her brief time at the Knoxville branch, Susan has been very active in community functions and serves as the Library's representative to all informational and referral activities in the hilltop neighborhoods; and
 
WHEREAS, her proudest accomplishments, in her time at Knoxville, are The Wise Walk Program, a walking program for adults in the community; the Mystery Book Talks and the many, many children's programs, all of which are well attended; and
 
WHEREAS, Susan married her husband Mike 4 years ago, and they attended the Nazareth Home Buyers Program, last fall, and are anxiously awaiting approval for a mortgage at a home in Brookline.
