Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Penn Brewery for hosting Pennsylvania Microbrewer's Fest bringing fun and feast to the North Side for the 15th year and for turning an old, historic building back to its original life as a Brewhaus 25 years ago and does hereby proclaim Saturday, June 4, 2011 "Pennsylvania Microbrewer's Fest Day at the Penn Brewery 2011 Day" in the City of Pittsburgh, and wishes a happy 25th anniversary to the Penn Brewery.

WHEREAS, beer lovers of the Pittsburgh raise a glass or three or four and join the 15th annual Pennsylvania Microbrewer's Fest Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Penn Brewery, 800 Vinial Street at the intersection of the East Deutschtown and Troy Hill neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, brewery owners Linda Nyman, Sandra Cindrich, Corey Little and Tom Pastorius ran out of space and had to limit their microbrew crews to 30 breweries from here to Brooklyn, Vermont, California and TRASH - the Three Rivers Association of Serious Home Brewers; and
WHEREAS, each brewery will offer a sampling of their work accompanied by an expert to answer any questions about their hops and barley; and
WHEREAS, of course, Penn Brewery beers, produced by master brewers Andy Rich and Nick Rosich will also be on hand; and
WHEREAS, the first Fest, 15 years ago, gathered 18 brewers and 1,000 people, this year 30 breweries will participate and a crowd of 2,000 are expected; and
WHEREAS, last year the event was held on a dark and stormy day, but it didn't keep the patrons away, as they say "let it pour, let the beer pour";and
WHEREAS, the event includes two-three hour sessions, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and involves beer sampling, a buffet meal and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, 2011 also marks the 25th anniversary of the Penn Brewery and the 23rd anniversary of the Penn Brewery Restaurant; and

WHEREAS, Penn Brewery is the largest and oldest brewery remaining in Pittsburgh;
