Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, express its deepest gratitude to Dr. Barbara Mistick for her visionary leadership and contributions to the Carnegie Library and the entire City of Pittsburgh and wishes her well as she embarks on this next phase of her illustrious career as President of Wilson College. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares Tuesday, May 31, 2011 to be Barbara Mistick Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on May 31, 2011, Dr. Barbara K. Mistick will be leaving the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to become the president of Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA; and
 
WHEREAS, during Dr. Misitick's time as President and Director of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, she contributed to the educational vitality, economic development and cultural enrichment of the entire region; and
 
WHEREAS, under Dr. Mistick's leadership, the Carnegie Library embarked on its first capital campaign, raising over $55 million dollars, to make neighborhood libraries accessible system-wide and providing a range of library services and programs for children, teens and adults and facilities that accommodate new collections and 21st century technology; and
 
WHEREAS, in addition to her career at the Library, Barbara Mistick has also been an entrepreneur, educator and leader at such institutions as the H.J. Heinz School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University, the National Education Center for Women in Business at Seton Hill University and at various businesses she managed and/or founded.
