Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend The Jewish Association on Aging for recognizing the contributions of the members of the "Greatest Generation" and congratulates the 8 honorees for a lifetime of dedication and commitment to the Pittsburgh and Jewish communities; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 2, 2011, to be "8 OVER 80 DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Jewish Association on Aging is a full continuum of care services for all seniors in the Pittsburgh extended community, offering a comprehensive network of healthcare, social, residential, rehabilitative and medical services that are implemented in accordance with Jewish values ; and,
 
WHEREAS, each year for the last eleven years, The Jewish Association on Aging has held an event in which it honors "8 OVER 80", eight members of the Pittsburgh Jewish community over the age of 80, who have served their country and the community with activism, dedication, commitment and philanthropy and are known universally as the "Greatest Generation" ; and,    
 
WHEREAS, this year, The Jewish Association on Aging will honor

at the "8 OVER 80" event to be held at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall on  June 2, 2011. .
