Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Kathy Jellison on being named Labor's 2011 Woman of the Year by the Allegheny County Labor Council.

WHEREAS, Kathy Jellison a union member for over 36 years, began her passion for working people everywhere as a child sitting on her grandfather's knee, who taught her that if you work hard, you can achieve anything; and
 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jellison is serving her second term as President of SEIU, Local 668, the Pennsylvania Social Services Union that represents over 20,000 professional workers, both public and private in every county and corner of Pennsylvania; and
 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jellison serves as a member of many boards and civic groups, such as the American Red Cross, the Coalition of Labor Union Women, the League of Women Voters, and a former Board member and Crisis Counselor of the Open Door Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Indiana, PA; and
 
WHEREAS, Kathy Jellison is most of all the loving wife of Jack, and mother of Josh - always a great and loving family woman; and
 
WHEREAS, the health and vitality of labor in our great Commonwealth is reflected in the leadership Kathy Jellison exemplifies towards improving the quality of life for all working people in Western Pennsylvania; and
 
WHEREAS, on May 6, 2011, at the Allegheny County Labor Council Banquet, Kathy Jellison is being honored as Labor's 2011 Woman of the Year, for her continued service;
