Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Amen Corner for recognizing Michael K. Feeney , Esq. with the first annual Judge James R. McGregor Award for his outstanding contributions to the community and the legal community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, April 28, 2011, to be “MICHAEL K. FEENEY, ESQ. DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Amen Corner is a prestigious organization which has been a Pittsburgh tradition since 1870 and whose purpose is to encourage camaraderie, fraternity and relationships amongst people of all walks of life; and,

WHEREAS, the Amen Corner has been honoring members of the Judiciary of Allegheny County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 50 years and members of the Allegheny County Bar for the last several years ; and,

WHEREAS, this year as part of their Annual Judicial Reception, Amen Corner will present an award in memory of Judge James R. McGregor, beloved Past President and a member for 50 years prior to his death in 2010 ; and,

WHEREAS, the recipient of the first Judge James R. McGregor Award for exceptional contributions to the community by a young lawyer will be awarded to Michael K. Feeney, Esq.; and,

WHEREAS; Michael Feeney, a graduate of Ohio Northern University and Dickinson School of Law , is with Matis Baum O'Connor, concentrating his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, nursing home defense and appellate matters. He is extensively involved in both the state and local bar associations, serving on the Young Lawyer's Division Council and Public Service Committee and currently as Chair of ACBA Young Lawyers Division and on the Board of Governors. Michael served on the ACBA's Professional Ethics Committee and was selected to be part of the ACBA's Bar Leadership Initiative class in 2005 which identifies and trains young attorneys to become leaders within the bar; and,

WHEREAS, Michael Feeney was appointed to a three year term on the PA Bar Association's House of Delegates and serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Programming Committee of the W. Edward Sell Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
