Resolution authorizing the Mayor to accept on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh a grant from the Home Depot Foundation in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) in Home Depot gift cards, and authorizing the Mayor to enter into mini-grant agreements with qualified nonprofit organizations to complete block revitalization projects for the City's pilot Love Your Block initiative.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, a grant from the Home Depot Foundation in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars in Home Depot gift cards, for the purpose of successful conduct of the City's pilot Love Your Block initiative. Love Your Block is a block revitalization program created to reduce blight in the City of Pittsburgh by inviting neighborhood groups from across the City to propose volunteer-led projects to transform their blocks with a mini-grant and the support of key City departments. Love Your Block will provide resources for volunteers to improve and beautify 20 City blocks in the pilot year. Grant monies will be deposited into the Grants Trust Fund: Account Number 481140; Fund 2940; Organization 102000; Subclass 600; Project Grant Number PR10065; Budget Year 2011.
Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized on behalf of the City to enter into mini-grant agreements with qualified nonprofit organizations to complete block revitalization projects that are required for the successful conduct of the program, in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars. Grant monies will be paid out of the Grants Trust Fund, Account Number 500000; Fund 2940; Organization 102000; Subclass 600; Project Grant Number PR10065; Budget Year 2011. Said Agreement shall be in a form approved by the City Solicitor and shall contain such other terms and conditions as may be in the best interest of the City and are required by the Home Depot Foundation. All payments to be made under this agreement are subject to and contingent upon the receipt by the City of the gift cards for the Love Your Block initiative.
