WHEREAS, Peggy Morrison Outon is the founding Executive Director of the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management at Robert Morris University; and
WHEREAS, Peggy has spent over three decades serving the community in the nonprofit sector as development officer, management support professional, board member and volunteer. She has served as a management consultant to more than 600 nonprofit organizations in fund development, board development, strategic & operational planning and volunteer management; and
WHEREAS, under Peggy's direction, the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management has worked with 3,000 regional nonprofits since its inception in 2000. It offers over 100 topics of year in its educational program and provides consulting services to 75-100 non-profits annually; and
WHEREAS, because women comprise 74% of the nonprofit workforce yet are disproportionately underpaid compared to their male counterparts, Peggy and the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management started a research effort called The Lives of Women Leaders in Nonprofit Organizations; and
WHEREAS, The Lives of Women Leaders in Nonprofit Organizations is a study that will help provide a better understanding of nonprofit practices, female leadership and a plan for more intentional intervention to aid in the development of young women professionals; and
WHEREAS, Peggy and the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management will use the information they receive to connect women leaders in the southwestern Pennsylvania area, provide coaching for women business leaders, and teach women how to overcome the pay disparity in the non-profit sector; and
WHEREAS, the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management staff is committed to fighting the pay disparity and are inspired to continue pursuing research, convening women nonprofit leaders, publishing papers and conducting a symposium to share the information they've gathered.
