TITLE
Resolution authorizing the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh to submit six applications for financial assistance for six projects in the aggregate amount of $3,402,600 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the operation and administration of certain projects in FY 2010-2011. (Council Districts 4, 6, 7 & 9).

BODY
Whereas, URA wishes to obtain financial assistance from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $3,402,600 for the following projects (collectively, the "Projects"):

Allegheny Riverfront $850,000
Liberty Park Phase 2 $900,000
Middle Hill Housing/Wylie Avenue Homes $550,000
Beechview - 1601 Broadway Avenue $280,000
Strategic Site Assembly - Uptown $550,000
Strategic Site Assembly - Larimer $272,600
Garfield Glen Housing Development $550,000
Federal Hill Phase 3 $272,600


Whereas, URA has prepared six applications for financial assistance for the Projects (the "Applications") under the under the FY 2010-2011 Housing and Redevelopment Assistance Program; and

Whereas, URA has indicated in the Applications that $6,568,687 $8,951,687 in HUD Upfront Grant, Community Development Block Grant, HOME, City, Pittsburgh Development Fund, UDAG Program Income, and other local funds will be provided as the matching share of Project costs; and

Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh and URA are desirous of obtaining funds from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the prevention and elimination of blight under Section 4(c) of the Housing and Redevelopment Assistance Law, as amended.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. URA is hereby authorized to file the Applications with DCED for six grants in the amounts set forth above and totaling $3,402,600 for the Projects for FY 2010-2011 and administration thereof.
