Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, be it resolved that February 15 - March 15 be declared Women of Color HERstory Month in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Women of Color HERStory Month is a city-wide celebration of the power, legacy and achievements of women of color that has been held annually since 2008 from February 15 to March 15 between Black History and Women's History month; and,
 
WHEREAS, the opening reception of Women of Color HERStory Month will take place on February 15th at Ibiza in the South Side, followed by subsequent events including the Young Women's Celebration on February 16th at the Ujamaa Collective Boutique in the Hill District, the Women of Color Political Lunch on February 24th at the August Wilson Center in Downtown Pittsburgh, the FOCUS on Women Campaign Forum on March 1st at the Garfield Community Center in Garfield, the Environment & Reproductive Justice Conference on March 5th, and Living Our Legacy, the 7th anniversary celebration and fundraiser in the Cultural District; and,
 
WHEREAS, the celebrations of the culture, legacy and achievements of women of color in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, across the country and around the world is presented by New Voices Pittsburgh, which connects women of color with the international movement for Reproductive Justice, educates communities of color about Human Rights and develops new voices for leadership in Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh is the only Human Rights and social change organization for women of color, led by women of color and about women of color in Pittsburgh and is deeply committed to building a local movement for Reproductive Justice; and,
 
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh will celebrate seven years serving women of color primarily ages 12-35 in Pittsburgh through social change activism, civic engagement and leadership development; and,
 
WHEREAS, the lives and stories of women of color have gone untold and shall never be forgotten;
