Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mr. Joe Divack for his extensive volunteerism and for taking the initiative to make the City of Pittsburgh a cleaner place to live; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 28, 2010, to be “Joe Divack Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Joe Divack, a retired citizen, was paying his respects to relatives in a cemetery in the Sheraden section of Pittsburgh when he noticed some litter and debris in the area which led to the discovery of an illegal dumpsite; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Divack took it upon himself to completely remove the rubble from the  illegal dumpsite and in the time it took him to clean up one illegal dumpsite he realized there must be many more; and,
 
WHEREAS, he utilized the Pittsburgh illegal Dumpsite Survey to locate and clean up dumpsites within the City of Pittsburgh and soon was a regular at all of the Allegheny CleanWays cleanups; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Divack was instrumental in starting the group DumpBusters, a program of Allegheny CleanWays which is  a small group of seriously committed and trained volunteers who respond quickly to dumping situations and who assist communities in cleaning up larger sites within Allegheny County; and,
 
WHEREAS, according to the group there are 279 illegal dump sites in the city of Pittsburgh alone and within six months DumpBusters has already removed more than 25 tons of trash, including 431 tires; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mr. Joe Divack for his extensive volunteerism and for taking the initiative to make the City of Pittsburgh a cleaner place to live; and,  
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 28, 2010, to be "Joe Divack Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
