WHEREAS, on December 29, 2010, The Clarks will put on their 2,000th show at Stage AE; and
WHEREAS, band members are:
· Scott Blasey: Lead Vocals, Electric & Acoustic Guitars
· Robert James: Electric & Acoustic Guitars, Vocals
· Greg Joseph: Bass Guitar, Vocals
· Dave Minarik: Drums, Vocals
WHEREAS, in nearly 25 years together, The Clarks have sold over 300,000 CDs; and
WHEREAS, the band members met at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and gained popularity in western Pennsylvania before touring venues across the country; and
WHEREAS, The Clarks have been honored by their alma mater with the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award and by having a recording studio named after them; and
WHEREAS, The Clarks have performed on national stages, including The Late Show with David Letterman, the Rolling Rock Town Fair, Milwaukee's Summerfest, and they will perform at the first intermission of the 2011 NHL Winter Classic; and
WHEREAS, through their music, The Clarks have brought national recognition to Pittsburgh and have earned the dedication of a million fans from multiple generations.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend The Clarks for reaching the musical milestone of 2,000 performances and commends them for all of their achievements; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 29, 2010 "The Clarks Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
