Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the 25th anniversary of the Salvation Army Christmas Day Dinner program and commends the staff and volunteers who generously give their time to provide food and fellowship to others.

WHEREAS, for 25 years, Salvation Army has generously provided a Christmas dinner to thousands of needy and homeless Pittsburghers through local hotels and universities; and
 
WHERAS, this year's dinners will be hosted by the Sheraton Station Square, the Omni William Penn, the Westin Convention Center Hotel and the University of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, the hotels and the University of Pittsburgh will serve a full Christmas dinner to ticketed guests from 11AM to 2PM on Saturday, December 25th; and
 
WHEREAS; approximately 2,200 people will receive meals served by more than 400 volunteers from the greater Pittsburgh area; and
 
WHEREAS, volunteers on that day will include hotel staff who agree to work on their own time on Christmas Day; and
 
WHEREAS, tickets to the event are distributed through area food banks, social service agencies, and the Salvation Army.
