WHEREAS, the mission of Jewish Residential Services is to provide residential and rehabilitative services to people who need support in their everyday lives because of psychiatric or developmental disabilities; and,
WHEREAS, Jewish Residential Services helps people learning to live with long-term disabilities to establish dignified, stable, productive, and satisfying lives for themselves as members of the JRS community, their families, and of the greater community; and,
WHEREAS, Jewish Residential Services offers a culturally rich, Jewish environment which is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and which encourages participants to build upon their strengths and to grow to their fullest potential; and,
WHEREAS, Jewish Residential Services provides four programs in the City of Pittsburgh, including the Leonard Staisey House, Supported Living Program, Charles Morris Hall, and the Howard Levin Clubhouse; and,
WHEREAS, on December 6, 2010 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jewish Residential Services will be hosting an Hanukkah Open House at the Howard Levin Clubhouse, where guests will be able to visit with JRS friends, enjoy refreshments, listen to music, and witness the lighting the candles with Rabbi Seidman; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Jewish Residential Services for their extraordinary efforts to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and congratulates Jewish Residential Services as it celebrates its Hanukkah Open House.
