WHEREAS, twice a year, since the mid 1990's, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police has sponsored an opportunity for members of the community to become closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the Bureau; and,
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Citizen's Police Academy brings law enforcement professionals and the community together in a setting that offers a sample of police training and experience to each member of the class; and,
WHEREAS, experienced and talented members of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police share their knowledge and expertise regarding the basics of criminal law, search and seizure, patrol tactics, firearms, processing a crime scene, K-9, OMI and many other facets of law enforcement; and,
WHEREAS, the current class of the Citizen's Police Academy began on September 1, 2010 and the members have gained a great deal of understanding and insight into the operations of the Pittsburgh Police force, and,
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends all of those involved in the success of this year's class and congratulates these candidates:

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, commend all of those who gave their time to learn about the valuable work that the officers of the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police do for the visitors and residents of America's Most Livable City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, December 8, 2010, Citizen's Police Academy Class 2010-02 Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
