Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh staff, board, and coalition group members for their efforts to provide positive role models and programming to young people in the Pittsburgh region; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 20, 2010 “Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on December 20, 2010, Big Brothers and Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh (BBBS) will host the event "Celebrate BBBS" to recognize the achievements of its coalition members; and
 
WHEREAS, the event will feature guest speakers State Representative Jim Christiana and University of Pittsburgh Assistant Athletic Director Penny Semaia; and
 
WHEREAS, BBBS will present the following awards to coalition members for their work in 2010:
·      Most Valuable Male Recruitment Advisory Board Member: Eddie Barry
·      Most Valuable Young Professional Outreach Board Member: Jimmy Wells
·      Most Valuable Big Speakers Bureau Member: Seth Corbin
·      Most Valuable Community Partner: Coro Center for Civic Leadership; and
 
WHEREAS, the mission of BBBS is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one to one relationships with measurable impacts; and
 
WHEREAS, BBBS serves 1,100 young people with its community based program and 22 site locations in the region.
