WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force was founded in 1985 by a group of volunteers in response to the unmet needs of those dying of AIDS; and,
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force continues to provide the region's most comprehensive support services for more than 600 local individuals living with HIV/AIDS; and,
WHEREAS, HIV and AIDS continue to devastate our community, especially our youth, the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force is dedicated to its mission of supporting and empowering all individuals living with HIV/AIDS and preventing the spread of infection; and,
WHEREAS, building on its history, the PATF accomplishes their mission by serving as a primary resource for HIV/AIDS support, information and testing; collaborating and educating other organizations, providers and the community; providing a safe and confidential environment and working to eliminate the devastating impact of the stigma that accompanies an HIV/AIDS diagnosis; and,
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force honors its core values of Compassion, Excellence, Collaboration, Teamwork, Community, Diversity, Service Innovation and Flexibility, in all it does.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commend Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force for all they do to support and educate all of those touched by HIV and AIDS.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, December 1, 2010, Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force Day in the City of Pittsburgh, in honor of World AIDS Day 2010.
