Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend St. Pamphilus Roman Catholic Church for their steadfast work in the community for the past 50 years; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the people of the City of Pittsburgh declare Sunday, December 5th, 2010 “St. Pamphilus Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, St. Pamphilus is a Roman Catholic Church located at 1000 Tropical Avenue for the last 50 years, established in 1961 by Bishop John Wright and operating under the Franciscan Friars of New York; and
WHEREAS, St. Pamphilus evolved because of the growing population in Beechview at the time of its founding, by the Franciscan Friars who served at St. Peter's in the Hill District; and
 
WHEREAS, St. Pamphilus organizes an ongoing St. Vincent de Paul society, Christian Women's Guild and Holy Name society for the past 50 years, and provided Meals on Wheels for the Beechview, Brookline and Dormont communities for the past 30 years; and
 
WHEREAS, the current pastor, Father Alexis Anania, OFM has served the St. Pamphilus community for over a decade; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend St. Pamphilus Roman Catholic Church for their steadfast work in the community for the past 50 years; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the people of the City of Pittsburgh declare Sunday, December 5th, 2010 "St. Pamphilus Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
