WHEREAS, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus has come to Pittsburgh !
WHEREAS, the Ringling Brothers Circus was founded in the United States by five of the seven Ringling brothers in 1884 , acquired the Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1907 and merged them into one circus and promoting them ever since as "THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH"; and,
WHEREAS, today's Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus has three tours , Funundrum, Illusination and the Zing Zang Zoom Tour, which opens on the floor of the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh on November 3, 2010; and,
WHEREAS, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus presents elephants, big cats, horses and elegant exotic animals in their shows, treating all their animals with respect, trust, affection and uncompromising care ; and,
WHEREAS, the Zing Zang Zoom Tour is a thrill-filled experience of color and imagery featuring traditional circus arts with the excitement of a disappearance of a 4 ton elephant, two female human cannonballs, high wire acts defying gravity and magic; and,
WHEREAS, throughout history the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus distinguished itself from other circuses with its honest and fair attitudes toward the public, developing a reputation for clean dealing and good value; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby welcome the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus to Pittsburgh, PA ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 3-7, 2010, to be "RINGLING BROTHERS AND BARNUM & BAILEY CIRCUS WEEK" in the City of Pittsburgh.
