Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Eagle Scout Robert Murphy on his recent accomplishment for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, October 11, 2010, to be “Robert Murphy Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is a performance-based achievement whereby the Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of responsibility, leadership, service and outdoor skills and it is the highest advancement rank in Scouting of which only 4 percent of youth earn; and,
 
WHEREAS, Robert Murphy, son of Robert and Debbie Murphy, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on October 11, 2010; and,
 
WHEREAS, to obtain Eagle Scout, Robert re-tiled the ceiling in a CCD class at the Church of the Ascension Parish which involved taking the old ceiling tile down and placing new tile  in its place and Robert also painted the CCD rooms accumulating  approximately 241.5 hours of service work; and,    
 
WHEREAS, Robert was a Cub Scout for 5 years and graduated from the Cub Scouts with the Arrow of Light Award and is currently in Boy Scout Troop 66 of the Greater Pittsburgh Council where he has been for 6 years of which time he has held the leadership position of Quarter Master and he is the Representative for the Order of the Arrow which is the Scouting National Honor Society; and,
 
WHEREAS, in addition to the normal hours required for Eagle Scout, Robert went above and beyond his duties by earning a Bronze Eagle Palm by obtaining an additional five merit badges and serving an additional three months of service; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Eagle Scout Robert Murphy on his recent accomplishment for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, October 11, 2010, to be "Robert Murphy Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
