Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, fully support the Cause of the Servant of God, Father Theodore Foley, C.P. for Beatification.

WHEREAS, Fr. Theodore Foley, C.P. is the first candidate for beatification from the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, St. Paul of the Cross Spiritual Center was the first monastic establishment in Pittsburgh and the first foundation of the Passionist Congregation and the first center built for retreats for men opened in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Father Theodore was a Superior at St. Paul's Monastery in the 1950's; and
WHEREAS, Father Foley played a prominent part in the Second Vatican Council and served as spiritual advisor and counsel to Pope Paul VI during and after the Second Vatican Council; and
WHEREAS, Father Theodore Foley was declared Servant of God by Pope Benedict XVI, May 9, 2007.
