Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Columbus Day Parade for its celebration of Italian culture and heritage and thanks the Columbus Day Parade Committee for its efforts to organize the event; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 9, 2010 to be “Columbus Parade Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the 25th annual Pittsburgh Columbus Day Parade will march down Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield on October, 9, 2010; and
 
WHEREAS, the parade will be headed by this year's grand marshal, Mr. Al Vento, Sr.; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Vento is the son of Italian immigrants and has owned a business in East Liberty for 59 years; and
 
WHEREAS, the parade is planned and supported by a group of dedicated volunteers, the Pittsburgh Columbus Day Parade Committee.
