Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 27th, 2010 to October 3rd, 2010 as Pittsburgh Fashion Week in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The introduction of Pittsburgh Fashion Week in 2010 will be a historical event, highlighting Pittsburgh's international sense of fashion from Sept. 27 through Oct. 3, 2010.   Pittsburgh area fashion designers and retailers, industry insiders, and lovers of style and fashion will converge on the Sen. John Heinz History Center, the William Penn Hotel, and other venues around the city of Pittsburgh to enjoy an array of fashion-related events.
 
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Fashion Week is a cultural and social event that will grow each year, giving experts' one more reason to name the city "America's Most Livable." While the city's championship sports teams, unique cultural amenities, and wonderful people have put Pittsburgh on the map, Pittsburgh Fashion Week will help make sure we stay there.
 
WHEREAS, The inaugural Pittsburgh Fashion Week occurs at the perfect time to highlight fall fashions and accessories available at the plethora of local boutiques, specialty stores, department stores, and off-price stores. While embracing and encompassing the breadth of fashion available in Pittsburgh, the event will set a new standard in terms of high-quality, New York-style runway shows complete with VIP seating, credentialed media access, and upscale after-parties that will attract thousands.
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Fashion Week will conclude with a Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame event that will memorialize sons and daughters of the region who have had a significant impact on style, fashion, and beauty.   
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Fashion Week was conceived by international fashion model Miyoshi Anderson, and businessman LaMont Jones. Miyoshi Anderson was born and bred in Pittsburgh, graduated from Pittsburgh CAPA High School, and resides in the area.
