WHEREAS, the Secret Agent L Project began in July of 2009 with a single hydrangea left on a car windshield as the first in a series of missions of anonymous acts of kindness; and
WHEREAS, Secret Agent L and her Affiliated Agents anonymously leave small gifts and a calling card in public places for people to find and then post blog entries and photos documenting their missions; and
WHEREAS, Secret Agent L announced her identity at a reveal party with the proceeds benefitting the Southwestern Pennsylvania chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness <http://www.namiswpa.org/content/index.php>; and
WHEREAS, Laura Miller revealed herself in order to advance her charitable efforts and extend more acts of kindness; and
WHEREAS, since the beginning of the project, 1,217 people from around the world have requested to be an Affiliated Agent, including people from Denmark, Germany and Spain; and
WHEREAS, people who have been critical in the success of Ms. Miller and the Secret Agent L Project include Vivian Lee Croft, Christopher Whitlatch, Ross Donaldson, Mike Woycheck, and Raymond and Connie Miller.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Laura Miller for her charitable works and for her efforts to promote acts of kindness in the Pittsburgh region and beyond; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 14, 2010 to be "Secret Agent L Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
