Title
Resolution amending Resolution No. 636, effective October 24, 2006, entitled "Resolution authorizing a Cooperation Agreement or Agreements with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh in connection with URA's application for a $7,500,000 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh branch modernization project" by increasing the amount of the grant to $8,500,000 and adding other projects.  (Council Districts:  All)

Body
Whereas, by Resolution No. 636, effective October 24, 2006, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh authorized a cooperation agreement with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh ("URA") in connection with URA's application with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of the Budget (the "Commonwealth") for a $7,500,000 Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program ("RACP") grant for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh branch modernization project (the "Project"); and

Whereas, the Commonwealth requires the City of Pittsburgh to agree to reimburse it for any expenditure of RACP funds determined by the Commonwealth to be ineligible; and

Whereas, the Commonwealth approved the Application and combined with it a $250,000 RACP grant for the Centre and Kirkpatrick branches; and

Whereas, the Commonwealth has increased the grant by $750,000, which requires an amendment to Resolution No. 636 to reflect the increased grant and to include the Centre and Kirkpatrick branches in the definition of Project;

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1.      Section 1 of Resolution No. 636, effective October 24, 2006, which currently reads as follows:

"The Mayor, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, is authorized to enter into Cooperation Agreement or Agreements with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, in a form approved by the City Solicitor, in which the City agrees to reimburse the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for its share of any expenditure of RACP funds for the Project found by the Commonwealth to be ineligible."

is hereby amended to read as follows:

"The Mayor, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, is authorized to enter into Cooperation Agreement or Agreements with the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, in a form approved by the City Solicitor, in which URA agrees to administer the Project and the City agrees to reimburse the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for its share of any expenditure of RACP funds in the amount of $8,500,000 for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Branch Modernization Project, including the Centre and Kirkpatrick branches, found by the Commonwealth to be ineligible."
