Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the organizers of “Paint It Forward” for their efforts to provide more schoolchildren with art programming; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, August 28, 2010 to be “'Paint It Forward' Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, I Paint for Hugs and Pittsburgh Arts for Change have formed an alliance to support the continuation of Pittsburgh's legacy of artistic innovation and education by benefiting underfunded elementary school arts programs; and
WHEREAS, in times of economic hardship, the budgets of arts programs in elementary schools are often decreased; and
WHEREAS, Nathan Pepmeyer founded "I Paint for Hugs" to raise and donate money to the art programs of local schools; and
WHEREAS, on August 28, 2010, the fundraising event "Paint It Forward" will be held in the Duquesne University Student Union Ballroom; and
WHEREAS, Duquesne University Spiritan Division in cooperation with Point Park University and Pittsburgh Arts for Change are sponsoring "Paint It Forward" to benefit the charitable works of Nathan Pepmeyer and "I Paint for Hugs;" and
WHEREAS, visual and performing artists will be selling and displaying their art, with half of the proceeds going to benefit "I Paint for Hugs;" and
