WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Little League, established in 1971 to allow all Squirrel Hill boys and girls to play baseball, has grown to include T-Ball, Fall Baseball and an extensive Post Season Tournament schedule ; and,
WHEREAS, this year, a ten year old All Star Team was organized to compete county wide to represent the Squirrel Hill Little League; and,
WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Ten Year Old All Star Team went 15-3, winning the Squirrel Hill and Etna Tournaments and advancing to the semi-finals in the Mt. Lebanon and West Mifflin Tournaments ; and,
WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Tournament, known as the Bob O'Connor Memorial Tournament, is one of the county's elite Little League Tournaments, and it is the first time since its inception that a Squirrel Hill team has won it; and,
WHEREAS, the team's roster includes Noah Swaby (3B), Isaiah Crowe (CF), Christopher Guttman (1B/OF), Kumar Simms (OF), Nate Dines (1B/OF) Ivy Mervis (OF), Owen Frynchko (OF), Isaac Serbin (3B/OF) and was led by the strong pitching of Nick McRandal, Chris Hough, Tanner Jacobson, and Rory Brennan and the effective catching of Jamal Colbert, all coming together to field a winning squad; and,
WHEREAS, this outstanding Ten Year Old All Star Team was coached by college students Jacob Cohen, Ben Dines and Daniel Ginsberg, young men who gave of their time this summer to work with these ten year old boys and girls.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Squirrel Hill Little League Ten Year Old All Star Team for its extraordinary focus, determination, talent and teamwork and congratulates its coaches for their dedication and commitment to these young athletes ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, August 2, 2010, to be “SQUIRREL HILL LITTLE LEAGUE TEN YEAR OLD ALL STAR TEAM DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh....
