Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the generous support and contributions from sponsors and the dedication of 1200 volunteers who make the Vintage Grand Prix a spectacular Pittsburgh tradition by providing all city residents with ten days of vintage motorsport excitement, bringing the top vintage cars out for the public to view, and pursuing their philanthropic duty as a fundraiser for the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley School; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares Sunday, July 25, 2010, to be “Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is committed to producing a world-class vintage racing event in order to raise funds to provide residential care, treatment and support for developmentally disabled individuals in the Pittsburgh region; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, attended by over 250,000 people during a 10 day schedule of vintage sports car racing and motorsports activities, holds the dual distinction of being the country's largest world class vintage automotive race event and the only one run on city streets ; and,
 
WHEREAS, the funds raised by this event, which since 1983 have totaled $2.5 million, benefit developmentally disabled individuals at the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School; and,
 
WHEREAS, this year's Grand Prix, presented by Shop 'n Save and synonymous with Schenley Park, will feature 10 days of special events such as the Kickoff Road Rallye, the Downtown Parade,  Car Shows and Cruises , the Tuneup Party at Bossa Nova,  Historic Races at BeaveRun, a Black Tie Gala , the Vintage Lap Experience and, of course,  Race Day.
