WHEREAS, Alyse Fowlks is the founder of “The Colab”, a retail marketplace located in Monroeville Mall, Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Alyse has created a space to support and elevate small businesses, particularly black-owned enterprises where her marketplace currently houses up to 20 vendors at a time. and,

WHEREAS, “The Colab” provides a safe and affordable space for its vendors to sell a variety of products, ranging from clothing, accessories, and various handmade items. The Colab’s goal is to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs to showcase their work and grow their businesses without the high cost associated with traditional retail stores. and,
WHEREAS, Alyse Fowlks has been a key figure in promoting Black entrepreneurship in the Pittsburgh area. Her creation of “The Colab” reflects the mission of providing a platform for not only Black-owned business visibility, but also assisting business owners with fostering collaborative and educational environments via workshops and networking opportunities. and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Alyse Fowlks creator of “The Colab” for her economic empowerment by cultivating accessible opportunities of minority business owners to thrive. and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Monday, November 25, 2024, to be “The Colab Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
